I am pleased to announce July’s 2022 SA Value Award Recipient for Customer ServiceCongratulations to Melani Gutierrez, Case Manager, Tri-Cities Program, Community Services.

At Service Alternatives, Customer Service means we listen, take time to understand our customers’ needs, and follow through on our commitments. Melani Gutierrez is recognized for her consistent ability to do each of these things, day after day, with professionalism and grace. Melani received several nominations, each of which described how Melani tackles challenges with both clients and customers and works tirelessly to meet their needs.

One nomination states:

Melani receives multiple phone calls a day in addition to countless texts and emails that are demanding so much of her time and energy and can be emotionally taxing.  She maintains the most professional demeanor throughout incredibly difficult situations.  And she shows up every day with a smile and is a true professional.

Another nomination states:

I have had the privilege of being part of Melani’s team meetings each month since she started with SA. Each month she has continued to provide a high level of service to our families and kids. She’s quick to problem solve and does so with a very calm demeanor that provides reassurance as well as confidence. When confronted with difficult situations, she has very clearly explained policy, reasoning, and/or safety concerns. She has done this without judgment or allowing any personal bias to interfere. She is honest yet gentle in her presentation of difficult topics. She is organized and clearly goes above and beyond to find ways to support youth and families.  Melani is a wonderful asset for our Tri-Cities Program and agency.

When asking the overall question ‘Are we helpin?’ Melani continues to ask ‘what more’ can we do for this client.  In my mind, true customer service is when you can think beyond yourself and your feelings to continue to strive to make a difference in one child’s life despite all the obstacles. These nominations capture wonderfully how Melani demonstrates customer service throughout all her work and the high level of service she provides is recognized and honored.
