We have just passed what I consider our 2-year COVID-19 anniversary here at SA. Little did we know what the next two years would hold for us. These two years have been so very hard on many levels. As an organization, we also have much to be proud of. I believe that, as we move out of this state of emergency, it is important to deeply acknowledge the pain, loss, and hardship of it all. I believe it is equally important to just as deeply acknowledge the learning, growth, and silver linings.

At this point, we are in a transition period. In many areas, we will have a choice to wear masks or not. This is very exciting for some, and others are not quite ready to embrace less conservative measures. You will also start seeing pictures with a mix of masked and unmasked faces and pictures of all unmasked faces. Some of us have never seen each other without a mask. Wow!

As we begin to transition from the heaviness of COVID restrictions to more freedom of choice, let’s remember to be kind in our interactions. Change is happening and we each need to embrace it at our own pace.

I for one am going to cut back ferns and do a few things in readiness for spring. So, I am also going to carefully consider what I am ready for as COVID restrictions start lifting. I am transition ready.
