This training is aimed at increasing one’s confidence and competence when interacting with individuals at risk for suicidality. Participants will gain skills and tools they can use immediately to support people who are considering suicide. Practices in Action: Person Centered Planning (909)
This class may be eligible for Continuing Education Credits for those who have NOT attended and received CEs during the previous year. Practices in Action: Person Centered Planning looks at the history of developmental disabilities to gain perspective on how individuals with developmental disabilities have been treated in the past and how as a community have gained awareness of their human rights, dignity, and respect. This training will help you gain a firm understanding of Person-Centered Practices and learn how to implement them. This training will help you understand the laws and state requirements that are important to the individuals we support. This training will also explore the influence of culture and how it defines the quality of our work and redefines what it means to be a caregiver. Must attend the entire class to receive the certificate.

An industry leading de-escalation training program. The philosophy centers on proactive, holistic, and immediately effective approaches to address conflict and crisis, with a goal of decreasing the need for physical intervention. This is a recertification workshop. This workshop is free for Service Alternatives' Employees, Foster Parents, and SA-served Clients. Tickets are available for an Advanced, Elements+, and Elements Recertification. Please note, you must possess a current RIGHT RESPONSE certificate to attend this workshop or your expired certificate must be within the 90 day grace period to be eligible for the recertification workshop. SLU 1: Intro to Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DOPH)
This Supported Living Update meets 6 hours of Continuing Education credits for employees in our Adult Residential Services programs. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment that has proven results across many different populations. Participants in this class will learn what DBT is and what it is designed to treat. It’s designed to challenge and change perspectives, both in the workplace and outside of it. Attendees will be presented with new ways of thinking about challenging behaviors and gain skills to help manage them. Tools covered include Behavior Chain Analysis (used to process challenging behaviors) as well as Core Mindfulness skills. Using DBT skills to enhance and support daily activities will be highlighted. Intro to Dialectical Behavior Therapy must be taken prior to attending DBT Skills.

CPR/First Aid/AED Certification/Recertification (DOPH)
Service Alternatives is an American Red Cross Authorized Provider. The First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help victims of any age – adults (about 12 years and older) and pediatric (infants and children up to 12 years of age). Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. This class is indented for Service Alternatives' Employees, Foster Parents, and SA-served Clients.
