Service Alternatives is an American Red Cross Authorized Provider. The First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help victims of any age – adults (about 12 years and older) and pediatric (infants and children up to 12 years of age). Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. INFORMED RESPONSE™ is a Trauma Informed Care (TIC) training, which is a strengths-based service delivery approach that is grounded in an understanding of, and responsiveness to, the impact of trauma. Trauma is psychological, biological, and physical reaction to extreme stress that is caused by an experience, series of events, or circumstances that are perceived by an individual as extremely harmful or threatening to themselves or somebody close to them. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment that has proven results across many different populations. Participants in this class will learn what DBT is and what it is designed to treat. It’s designed to challenge and change perspectives, both in the workplace and outside of it. Attendees will be presented with new ways of thinking about challenging behaviors and gain skills to help manage them. Tools covered include Behavior Chain Analysis (used to process challenging behaviors) as well as Core Mindfulness skills. Using DBT skills to enhance and support daily activities will be highlighted. Intro to Dialectical Behavior Therapy must be taken prior to attending DBT Skills.
