Practices in Action: Learning Person-Centered Practices is for professionals committed to providing respectful, dignified, and individual support to people with developmental disabilities. This training traces the history of developmental disability support, highlighting the progress made in recognizing and upholding the human rights of those we serve.
The course offers an introduction into Person-Centered Practices: supporting individuals in a way that values their perspectives, desires, beliefs, and preferences. Participants will learn how these practices align with Individual Instruction and Support Plan, Person-Centered Support Plans, and Habilitative Goals, providing a strong foundation for effective care, aligned with legal and ethical standards. Additionally, the training provides an opportunity for self-reflection to consider how caregivers’ own lived experiences and culture influence their work.
Practices in Action is available through attending a pre-scheduled training session, scheduling an onsite session, or as a Train-the-Trainer model, allowing your organization to integrate this knowledge into your training programs.
