Adult Learning Theories and Principles provides participants with a foundation in the theories and best practices of on-the-job adult education aimed at improving competencies and performance. In this workshop, you will learn how to effectively design, present, and evaluate educational material tailored to the learners’ needs, professional environments, and existing levels of competency. Participants will be prepared to facilitate learning in a variety of settings and meet the needs of diverse individuals, including English language learners or users of assistive technology.
The overarching theme of this training is appreciating and respecting adult learners: valuing their lived experiences and cultural backgrounds, building on their existing competencies, providing them with immediately applicable knowledge and skills, and using their time effectively.

Learning outcomes:
The class participants will:
1. Learn and define each step of the Training Process to incorporate in the development, presentation, and evaluation of the training material
2. Identify the vital information for proper assessment and preparation when developing, presenting, and evaluating training material
3. Familiarize and define the different adult education theories and practice principles to integrate in practice during trainings
4. Categorize and differentiate adult learning styles to apply in the development of training material and during presentations
5. Learn effective teaching and facilitation techniques to meet adult learning needs
6. Facilitate learning activities for adult learners in a classroom environment
7. Identify the different evaluation processes to determine the effectiveness of the training throughout the Training Process
8. Understand the challenges of supporting adults with special training needs such English language learners, persons with learning or literacy issues, persons who requires assistive technology, and persons who use interpreters
9. Brainstorm facilitation strategies and apply the cultural considerations to support adults with special training needs
10. Learn how to create a training planning sheet to develop an instructor guide for
teaching
