Providing valuable new experiences for clients and much deserved breaks for their caregivers.

Finding opportunities to recharge and take a much needed break can be an ongoing challenge for full time caregivers. Similarly, finding opportunities for social interaction or exposure to new activities can be a challenge for adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities. SA’s Overnight Planned Respite Services are a great solution for caregivers and clients alike. A respite allows the caregiver to have peace of mind and enjoy a break while giving the client the opportunity to experience independence in a caring and safe environment.

Respite stays are thoughtfully tailored to each individual client through collaboration between the family or guardians and an experienced residential manager. Clients can set their own schedule, meet a diverse set of people, and experience a different environment to build confidence and support personal growth. Respite stays are available for up to 14 days per calendar year.

Appropriate for:

  • Adults 18 years or older and on the core waiver service through a DDA referral

Testimonials

“Thank you so much, we definitely felt that our child was well cared for while we were gone. You are my favorite team. The pictures and phone calls were above and beyond any other group has ever done and it was wonderful. Thank you”

Parent, Respite Client

“I would highly recommend Service Alternatives for your Respite child’s stays. My son is 19 and has never stayed away from home before. Soraya and her team were caring, attentive and really took the time to get to know him and his needs. From the first time they reached out they asked all the right questions (what does he eat?, what does he like to do?). During his stay staff went above and beyond with fun outings and working on his adulting skills (helping HIM cook and teaching him to do laundry). He has been back twice and we have plans for him to keep going. Thanks Service Alternatives for supporting our wonderful children!”
