Summary
Washington State requires long-term care workers to take this class. Topics include agency policies and procedures, Individual Instruction and Support Plans (IISP), Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP), Rehabilitation skills, and maintaining positive relationships with SA clients.
Attendees must attend Day 1 prior to attending any of the other classes. These are the foundational concepts of respect, dignity, and boundaries that are pulled through the entire training, as well as the history and definitions of the conditions that qualify an individual to receive DDA services. After day 1, they can do the days in any order; however, they must complete day 3 to be eligible to attend skills lab. Day 3 webinar covers the first half of chapter 12 (Personal Skills) and the lab completes chapter 12.

Audience
This 40 Hour Training is required by Washington State. Participants in this training should be long-term care workers or are required by their program to attend the 40 hours of training.

Please Note:
Days 1-5 are webinars. Chapter 12 is taught in person. Participants are required to participate in the webinar daily and complete 3.5 hours of homework each day to obtain 40 hrs. of class credit. Supervisors should be aware that this is a 40-hour/week class, and the participants should not be scheduled to work on shift following the class to complete their homework and receive their full credit for the 40 hours.
