Workshop: Practices in Action: Learning Person-Centered Practices

November 12 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Practices in Action: Learning Person-Centered Practices provides an overview of the history of lived experiences of individuals with developmental disabilities in Washington State, from institutionalization to community supported living. Participants will explore the importance of respecting the humanity, dignity, and rights of those we support. This workshop provides an introduction into Person-Centered Practices: supporting individuals in a way that values their perspectives, desires, beliefs, and preferences. You will also become familiar with State requirements related to Individual Instruction and Support Plan, Person-Centered Support Plans, and Habilitative Goals, ensuring your practices are aligned with legal and ethical standards. Additionally, the workshop provides an opportunity for self-reflection to consider how caregivers’ own lived experiences and culture influence their work.

This class is intended for Service Alternatives’ Employees, Foster Parents, and SA-served Clients. If you are interested in attending the course and do not fall within those categories, please reach out to the Service Alternatives Training Institute.

We make every effort to create an environment inclusive to all training participants. If you require additional support or special accommodations to participate, please email us at learn@servicealternatives.com at at least 5 business days before the training and let us know how we can serve you.
