Therapy is a challenging process of self-discovery. Through this process of self-discovery, clients can gain a deeper understanding of themselves, develop healthier coping strategies, and ultimately create positive change in their lives. My approach to therapy is strengths based and focused on my clients’ individual needs. As a therapist it is my goal to create a safe and non-judgmental environment is crucial in therapy as it allows individuals to feel comfortable enough to open up and share their deepest thoughts and emotions, which is essential for the therapeutic relationship to thrive.

Cecilia D. Garza MSSW, M.Ed., LICSWA, LMHCA Kennewick

My therapeutic approach is to help clients return to stable or normal functioning. I believe in empowering clients and providing individual person-centered care. Also, to facilitate realistic expectations and hope in clients that positive change is possible but does not occur in a linear process of straight-line successes. There will be triumphs and tribulations, progress, and setbacks. I will emphasize a healing process that involves growth, learning from advances as well as setbacks, and staying the course toward restoration and recovery. I will also convey to clients that I will stay the course with them.

I have experience working with youth and adults in social services, education and community settings.

I use a trauma informed approach to assessing client needs and will collaborate with client’s on creating realistic and attainable goals.

Samantha Simones MSW, LICSW Vancouver

Hi, I’m Samantha and I know that sometimes our lives aren’t how we want them to be and need a little help to find our way back to ourselves. It is my belief that we can heal when we have the tools and support we need. My goal is to help facilitate a safe space for healing and to teach useful tools and techniques to use in your life for long term progress and success. I have experience working with foster youth (in both community and group home settings), individual and group therapy, while focusing on processing and resolving trauma. I utilize trauma informed care practices in my work with each individual and family. I use a variety of techniques based on clients’ needs including CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing. Not every technique will work for everyone, and I will work to build the therapeutic relationship so we can find what works for you.
I have been practicing and providing mental health services since 2018. I hold an LICSW license from the state of Washington. I graduated from Portland State University with my Masters in Social Work where I interned in community expanded services and psychiatric care in inpatient settings. I work with people of all ages, ranging from children to adults. I provide in office visits and remote services based on need and agreed upon services.
If you are searching for support and think we can work together, please contact me. Our experiences in life are valid, and I am here to listen to yours.

Testimonials

“My therapist helped me work on myself. She encouraged me to think about my future and what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. She helped me when things were going well and when they weren’t she reminded me I need to take a deep breath.”
T, Client

“When (a) child entered the program, he was incredibly hyper and impulsive. He would run up and down the halls and grab at anything within reach. During therapy, he worked on several coping mechanisms to help when he feels overwhelmed with anxiety. This was done in an age appropriate way so he took it to be a game that he wanted to play as it was fun for him. These different activities that provided a relief from his hyperactive, anxious tendencies (and) have allowed this child to cope better at school, home, staff, and in extracurricular activities. You can clearly witness this child is more calm, polite, and socializes better with adults and peers. It has been a noticeable transformation to this [sic] benefit of this child and all those around him.”
