January is a natural time for transition. But, sometimes the opportunity for a fresh start gets built up in our heads and we can get a little stuck. As the holidays wind down and we try to find our footing in the new year, keep in mind that contributing to something meaningful beyond ourselves can be a helpful strategy to move forward. It could be educational, such as being part of an MLK Day event. Or, did you know January 11 was Human Trafficking Awareness Day? There are lots of meaningful causes to become involved in. It could include contributing to others by dropping off a can of food at a local food bank. Just keep in mind that these simple things can be extraordinarily grounding in such trying times. This can also be as simple as getting out and doing something new. My friend Dana and I walked across Lake Washington on the 520 bridge recently. It was a gorgeous day and so good to walk somewhere new and get a change in perspective. That simple change in perspective can make all the difference and we can choose what we put our focus on. Let’s look for the positive and find joy in the simple moments of our days as we move into 2022.
