As summer turns to fall, it’s nice to take a moment and reflect on all that was accomplished in the past few months. Here at Service Alternatives, we’ve been busy and we’re sure you have been too! Below is a throwback story to the beginning of summer.

In early June, a client, RC, was supported to complete his goal of participating in the Relay for Life. During the run up to the event, he raised money by having two bake sales and his cause has reached all over the Island. For his bake sale, he was given donations of baked goods from Chris’s Bakery here in Oak Harbor and our local Wal-Mart donated space for his bake sales. RC received sponsorship from the American Legion George Morris Post 129. He also got a cupcake named for him at Sundance Bakery that is located in Langely, where they donated a portion of every cupcake sold to RC’s Team. The cupcakes were such a hit & sold out so quickly that they’ve now been made a permanent fixture on their menu.

RC was supported with walking during the relay by many SA staff who all took turns walking hour long laps for this great cause. His team also received kudos for attending the most relay planning meetings. All in all, Team Carey raised over $1300 for cancer research!

That’s all for now!
